Tips for writing great posts that increase your site traffic

Caroline Macleod • 7 November 2022

Write about something you know. If you don’t know much about a specific topic that will interest your readers, invite an expert to write about it.

Speak to your audience

You know your audience better than anyone else, so keep them in mind as you write your blog posts. Write about things they care about. If you have a company Facebook page, look here to find topics to write about

Take a few moments to plan your post

Once you have a great idea for a post, write the first draft. Some people like to start with the title and then work on the paragraphs. Other people like to start with subtitles and go from there. Choose the method that works for you.

Don’t forget to add images

Be sure to include a few high-quality images in your blog. Images break up the text and make it more readable. They can also convey emotions or ideas that are hard to put into words.

Edit carefully before posting

Once you’re happy with the text, put it aside for a day or two, and then re-read it. You’ll probably find a few things you want to add and a couple more that you want to remove. Have a friend or colleague look it over to make sure there are no mistakes. When your post is error-free, set it up in your blog and publish.

How can you use Humor to increase email open rates and marketing newsletter emails?. People have different senses of humor. That is, they have different ways of viewing and enjoying humor. Many find slapstick humor entertaining, such as in cartoons or in comedies. Others find humour in sarcasm and irony, which is when something humorous occurs in the context of something serious. Humor can be used to express emotions and to communicate ideas. As such, using humor effectively requires a thoughtful approach. To increase email marketing conversions, you need to use humor that appeals to different people and different marketing personas. Slapstick or gross-out humor - like toilet humor - may work for some people who are trying to increase email open rates. However, others prefer more self-aware or absurd humor. It is all dependand on your brand tone of voice, that type of humour may work better when trying to gain new subscribers or maintain current subscribers. For example, one blogger uses self-deprecating humor to gain sympathy with her audience. She tells humorous stories about her life as a mom and wife so that her audience views her as relatable and trustworthy. This transforms her into a comedic icon with our eyes all rolled up with laughter whenever she smiles at her kitchen counter-top chaos. Not all people respond to humorous email subject lines the same way they would respond to serious subject lines. For example, an email titled 'Purchase details' may receive a positive response from your audience. However, if your subject line says 'Starving stray dogs in India,' your subscribers may feel compassion for the dogs and delete your email without opening it. Therefore, you should consider the type of humor that works best for each audience before sending your message. For example, if you're trying to improve your image among prospective clients, using self-deprecating humor could work well for you. By using this kind of humor, you can make fun of yourself so that your audience perceives you as vulnerable and human rather than infallible and perfect. Humor can be a powerful tool when used wisely in communication with your target audience. It can help you teach new ideas or inspire emotional responses in your listeners. Therefore, it's important to consider what type of humor works best for your particular situation before sharing it with anyone else.
